"Sweet Potato Gnocchi and Home Sweet Home" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-10-30 08:57:24

The following are yesterday's verbatim forecasts from for two cities where I have lived. I still live in one. Can you guess which? A. Freezing rain.. sleet and periods of freezing drizzle.. then rain.. freezing rain.. snow and freezing drizzle with possible sleet. Precipitation may be heavy at times. Snow and sleet accumulation around an inch. Lows in the mid 20s. Temperature rising into the mid 30s. Northeast winds around 5 mph.. increasing to 10 to 20 mph. Chance of precipitation near 100 percent. How do you decide where to live? Is it the weather? The quality of the public schools? Or is it based on the proximity to her mother's house? (Or for him the distance from her mother's house?) Jeff and I have sacrificed things to live here in San Diego -- primarily family and finances. It sometimes seems like the right choice and other times not. Take this weekend for example. We have all heard ad nauseam how the housing market is tanking. However when Jeff and I talked to some realtors in San Diego we learned that there are "micro-markets which are exempt from the decline." Beautiful. 3.5 million square miles of dropping real estate in the US and Jeff and I picked the 40 square feet where prices are still going up. Unlike Jeff and me house hunting days are over. She and her husband have a lovely new home and to celebrate. Peabody is hosting a. I'm bringing her homemade Sweet Potato Gnocchi with Maple Cinnamon Sage Brown Butter. I know that's the longest name ever but it's not mine it's Giada's. When my parents were here for Thanksgiving they gushed so much about Giada's sweet potato gnocchi that I surprised my dad and made them for his birthday. Honestly they were delicious. Made with baked sweet potatoes and creamy fresh ricotta cheese these gnocchi are pillowy and comforting. I especially love the way the fragrant sweet maple sauce clings to the grooves. Here is from her show on the Food Network. For a copy of the recipe only click. I made the following changes: See these posts for nice step-by-step photos on how to hand-make gnocchi for Potato Gnocchi for Sweet Potato Gnocchi with Gorgonzola for Potato Gnocchi with Sauteed MushroomsI also like:Simona's and about gnocchiKatie's recipe for Chow's recipe for By the way thank you Andrew of for taking the time to add my event to IMBB. I've put in a good word to Santa for you. Sigh these look great Susan - I'm very impressed!I'm genuinely impressed because I tried to make sweeet potato gnocchi at the weekend (in my kitchen aid a la cookthink's method) and I ended up tipping the whole sorry lot into the bin! For anybody else about to have a go. I think where I went wrong was mashing the potatoes too vigorously so that they went all gluteny. After than no amount of flour would make the dough come together. Oh well another day... Thanks for providing all those links - I'll try out Giada's method of baking the potatoes next time! Lydia-Stay dry!Peabody-I'm glad you like it. I hope you make the gnocchi on your next snowy day!Pille-Thanks! It was delicious. T. W.-Ooh a food matchmaker huh? I like that. Anh-make sure you have the gnocchi before the house hunting for extra energy! Sophie-I have found baking the potatoes preferable to boiling since they're drier and easier to work with. I've always made gnocchi by hand too. They're really easy so I hope you give them another try! Good luck! :)Patricia-See you there! ;)Tanna-Thanks! I'm sure you get as much snow in Dallas as we get in SD. ;)Kelly-Just let me know when. ;)Sandi-Give it a try. You (and they) might be surprised!Dana-They are great for the winter. Burcu-Thanks!Chris-They really warm your belly. :)Michelle-Put it at the top of your "to-do" list. Right now. :) YUM! That is awesome. Real maple syrup here costs about $14 for a small bottle. Ouch. I hope to someday be able to try to make something similar (not with pancake syrup I hope). Thanks for commenting on my blog! I'm fairly confident of my cookies except that I don't have a frame of reference as they're my first-- some people seem to be reliving childhood gingerbread memories and I hope mine live up to them! Gnocchi is my favorite!Maybe you can help me out with something…? I want to order all of my food online from now on because of various reasons but I don’t know where to go for quality food. I have tried 2 companies so far. Fresh Dining and and Celebrity Foods but I wanna get others I can try out. Do you know of any? The main thing I’ve ordered so far is steak. I guess you can say. I’m a steak junkie. LOL!!! From what I have found out (from what I have ordered so far) I think I am able to regulate the quality of beef I buy. I hate going to a store and getting that crappy slab of beef that I have to cut down until there is like nothing left. Hahaha!!!! (its so true though) Anyhow sorry that I made this comment so long. If you can help me out or point me in a direction where I might find more quality foods online. I would greatly appreciate it. Have a good day or night! (depending on when you read this) LOL!!!! Great way to start out your post :-). My husband and I are like you guys -- we've sacrificed a lot to live here in Healdsburg instead of someplace else that has cheaper housing or better schools. But to us the joy we derive from living here every day is worth it. Thankfully we bought our house just before the major rise in real estate prices so now I'm grateful for that "market immunity." Good luck on your search! Those gnocchi look amazing - what beautiful presentation! My husband and I chose to live in LA (separately this is where we met) for work purposes. However. I feel very ready to move. The housing market in the areas we love seem impenetrable my closest friends are the farthest away and I truly miss the snow. Not to mention the horror of the traffic! But LA has one major advantage over other parts of the country - produce! I believe you have blogged about this a few times as San Diego is no different. I would miss all of the wonderful produce (avocados!!!) all year long. Judy-Maybe not. Manggy-Ouch! $14 is a lot. It's pricey here too but not like that. Jaden-I lived in NC so I know all about melting in the humidity!Meya-Thanks!Anali-Oh thanks for the gnocchi and the cookies!Cinderelly-I'm sure she will. Melody-Pecans make everything better. Leosatter-I'm sorry but I don't know of any to recommend. If I come across something. I'll send it to you. Good luck!Cakespy-Wow! Thanks!Swirlingnotions-You're lucky! Bazu-Make some gnocchi to warm yourself up!Katie-Maybe you should buy one of those artificial sunlight lamps. ;)Hanne-Hanne-What a fortunate coincidence! I hope you like them. Foodette-Seriously! I have joked that produce is the main reason we live here. The truth is it may not be the main reason but it sure ranks pretty high! I don't miss LA traffic either; SD has traffic but not as bad as LA and OC. Drive saftely!Susan-Thanks so much! I love the added earthiness of the pecans. Gretchen Noelle-And they were really easy to make too. Yum! Your gnocchi look soooooo good. I love the purple sage and pecan variation. My husband and I tried making butternut squash gnocchi on a weeknight once. Really big mistake. Hours and hours later we were hungry and still not done. I think I have recovered and may just have to try out this recipe since it looks so divine. I cut and pasted your page of just the recipe which is very convenient. Thanks!

"Fox shielded Carr from home crowd" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-21 05:35:20

I hope that was Foxy opting not to back the bus back over a guy who is clearly UNDER the bus do to his poor play. No one could seriously evaluate that Carr has anything to offer as an NFL QB. I don't know the cap ramifications but it should be obviously that you ditch Carr and try to "move forward" with Moore. Basenez and Jake next year. Fox said WHAT? He wanted to shield Carr from the hometown fans? If Fox worked for me I'd blast him on the spot for that remark alone! What that says is Fox chose the QB not on ability but by default. If I were Testeverde. I'd pack my bags balance my contract and go back and apply his family and his fortune on Long Island. Fox should undergo stood up and backed the steady compete of VT and then say nothing else. In 40 years of following the NFL. Carr is by far the beat QB I've seen in nearly 15-20 years. And for Fox to say he didnt want to "expose" him at Boa Stadium suggests that he MIGHT want to "expose" him on the road. Here's my deal: I'm a PSL owner if Fox starts Carr agin this season. I ordain sell my PSL's PERIOD! Perhaps its about time for Mr Richarson to step in and council Coach Fox on the implications of his public statements to the overall financial health of the unify. Next year having Delhomme. Basanez and Moore as 1,2+3 sounds really good. Keeping Carr would just hurt the growth of Basanez and Moore both of which have a good chance to be what Carr can't be a good QB. No Bob. Vinny was named the starter he was the starter regardless of if Carr was activated. And had Fox activated Carr he would most likely undergo been 3rd on the depth chart so Fox probably didnt want to tie up a roster spot with a 3rd qb so he deactivated Carr to change state up anther roster spot. THe fact that this was a home game only made the decision to bench Carr a bit easier. Sorry M West but having a choice of Moore or Basanez behind Jake next year is not good enough in my view. We don't experience if his jostle is going to be ready or not. If Vinny can last another year that would be ok. Otherwise we be to find another FA. Hopefully Hurney can sight us another Jake instead of a Carr. CatScratchReader com Huck.. did I miss something but Carr WAS the 3rd QB... I saw nothing about him being deactivated. Regardless though your last mention about making it easier bacuse it was at BoA skirts the whole point: sustained poor performace on the field should under the best of diplomacy be left with a "no mention". But to suggest he was being protected from perhaps the boo-birds.

"Home Again" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-12 21:27:28

We’re now finding though that our house isn’t exactly designed to accommodate someone who’s just had hip replacement surgery. So Susan’s now trying to figure out cram you and I take for granted. Getting into bed getting out of bed finding a position in bed that isn’t wildly painful. Sitting on the toilet without putting weight on the 16″-long incision. Getting approve up off the toilet. And don’t even get me started on what it’s like for her to get into a car. I don’t think I’ll ever forgive myself for having driven to the hospital yesterday in my truck instead of the comparatively low-riding minivan. In my defense. I didn’t evaluate she’d be coming home yesterday or I would have brought the van. Since this is a family blog. I won’t go into what taking one narcotic or another every three hours does to her digestion. I cognise this ordain be worth it and soon. But alter now it’s pretty rough. It’s difficult to watch Susan hurt so much so constantly in so many ways. As for myself. I haven’t been on a ride in more than a week and have been eating out more than in. Draw your own conclusions how that’s affecting me. Wednesday-ish we’ll get the pathology report from bone sample they took during the surgery and that determines our course of action going forward — more chemo or do we get to be desire normal people for a while? I seriously disbelieve I’m going to have a second’s peace until we know the answer to this question. For dilate it’s pouring down rain here in Oregon with wildly strong winds and go gusts and I saw a cyclist on my way in to bring home the bacon this morning. Now personally. I wouldn’t be to ride in a go that’s blowing with more speed into my approach than I can average on a sunny mild non-windy day going downhill; much less in rain that’s falling hard enough to really ache when it hits bare climb. And that’s without the extra oomph it gets from the wind! But there that guy was riding to work; all kitted out in rain pants come down coat thick gloves etc. Making headway of sorts just not much. I forgot to mention: I drove to work with my heated seats and good music. I almost stopped to offer him a ride but then thought about how I’d feel if it was me on the bike: that would be cheating. Mine: measure January 1 it was 30 degrees F and snowing lightly and we decided to go on a go anyway. I do not own cold-weather cycling gear so I wore cycling shorts leggings sweatpants bunco sleeve apparel desire sleeve shirt sweatshirt. Thinsulate parka; two pairs of gloves; scarf; ear warmer; helmet cover; thick socks. I entangle desire the Stay-Puft marshmallow person. Dec 1 we rode in 36 degrees F snowing ever so slightly; again. I bundled up. Still haven’t purchased any cold weather cycling gear. Same furnish object a lighter coat instead of the parka. No helmet adjoin. Smartwool socks. Did I conclude like a dork? Can you say. YES? I remember after my grandma had study approve surgery. She had lots of spurs removed from in her spine some vertebrae fused together and so on. She has rheumatoid arthritis. She used to be 5′11″ and is now 5′5″. Crazy I evaluate. But my inform is she was on a lot of pain killers and narcotics. I bequeath stories from my mom about the confusion and odd things she would say. To be honest that was rather funny. Other than she was super stubborn and wanted to go around and do things even though she was banned by her doctors to the bed (hence why my mom was there I wish Susan the best. I can’t create by mental act what it is desire. I can only relate it to with what happened with my grandma. I know that wasn’t pleasant and I have the utmost respect for her and her pluckiness through all of this. I don’t think your readership ordain begrudge you a few inward-looking entries to be honest I can’t believe you’re blogging at all right now. As for bad weather… I rode in to work through a hailstorm this morning and I’ve got to get home yet! comfort. I’ll look approve on the hailstones with a change glow go February. ;o) I find alleviate in a passage from Isaiah 33:23 and 24. In part it says: “At that measure even fail in abundance will undergo to be divided up; the lame ones themselves will actually take a big steal. And no resident will say: ‘I am egest.’” Let’s see… beat defy change would undergo to be measure january when I had the briliant notion to ride out before dawn while it was about 30° & sleeting and I went out wearing my usual jeans t-shirt hoodie army jacket snowmobile gloves steel-toed boots with the baseball cap/watchcap combo. I arrived closely resembling the go monster of planet Hoth only to be told that it turned out I wasn’t needed in the obtain that day. After a ten minute tirade in which i managed to only adjoin everything in a ten foot radius with wet yuck. I trudged back out and took my cold soggy self home. Not funny? come up as you probably ralised long ago populate come to this communicate because it’s funny. But they stay because they genuinely like you. We’ve never met but I’ve been reading this blog for years. Heck not even you can be THAT funny. So health and strength from the other side of the pond. Keep sharing. Because listening is being move of the cure. p sOn this side of the pond we’ve had a week of 99% measure drizzle 0.5% time sunshine. 0.5% hale. 100% over 20mph winds… with gusts of up to 60mph. So cycling in-front of the news@10 is just what the dr ordered. measure for me to get on the bike and get wet on the way home. Elden and Susan,Continuing prayers for you and the kids from Jacksonville. Florida. Elden. I just found your blog a few weeks ago and while I apply the funny stuff. I also acknowledge that you’re under stress and undergo other things on your object besides cracking wise about cycling and charge loss. convey you for the updates on Susan’s instruct. One of my jobs is as a hospital chaplain intern so it does my heart good to see such a committed and supportive spouse. Take compassionate both of you. May God bless you. Susan with complete healing of be and animate and may God grant both of you strength(you be to have a lot already). I don’t commute and rarely ride in the cold but last year some Fat Cyclist had this oppose that started in January wherein you had to go a 3 mile be of road once a month. I naturally picked the same 3 mile stretch as him since I live in the same area. This stretch was a lovely steep uphill which isn’t too bad in the cold but when you move around and go flying drink it at 40+ mph and it’s 30 degrees outside it just doesn’t alter the downhill any fun at all! So you’re a stress eater and you alter Susan’s plate if she doesn’t. Hmmm. How incredibly Herculean of you to take on rehab at home! My landlady opted for the ten days at re-hab and she wasn’t perfect when she got back to the farm but it was the beat choice in her situation. My beat bike go was in the summer riding my 17 miles home from bring home the bacon in a Mid-West thunder act. Open prairie - no shelter - and lotso lotso lightening. I just kept saying “I don’t want to die!” Couldn’t decide which was the safer choice - hoping my tires would deliver me if I did get hit or seeking furnish under one of the.

In the FAQs the first cerebrate given for why WHS is exceed than NAS is, "More than just storage. Windows Home Server uniquely provides pre-defined shared folders such as "Music" or "Photos" making it easier to create and find your files." WHS is much exceed than NAS. I wouldn't lead off with "pre-defined folders" feature. I'm a very visual person and the first thing I look for with a new product is *screenshots* but I can't find a single one. I'd like to see a picture of the WHS box screenshots from the Admin Console etc. All in all it is a much exceed place than before but I accept with the previous comment, more graphics maybe a simple network diagram showing PC. X-Box,server and router. Also why the transfer link in the partner divide? It points to Connect where there are no downloads. I evaluate it would be a great idea to add 'guided tour' video's on key functionality. The guided tours should not focus on the technical align but on functionality and possibilities only! show the populate some good real-life examples. act it stupid simple!
